I was born in the holy city of Lord Shiva, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in the year of 1958. Born in a well-known Bengali Family, I was encouraged to learn music from a very tender age by my mother, my path blazer and my very first Guru. It was she who illumined my path with her guidance and blessing during my childhood days. My inquisitiveness to explore my passion from a deeper perspective led me to become one of the disciples of Pt. Chhote Lal Mishra from Varanasi. He opened up the entire world of music and its possibilities for me at the very young age and inspired me to pursue it in my life with dedication. And as this journey continues, I was privileged that, world renowned Tabla wizard, Padma Vibhushan, Late Pt. Kishan Maharaj accepted me as one his disciple for which I will always be grateful to him. I also took formal classical vocal training under the guidance of Dr., Pt. Rajeshwar Acharya (formal dean faculty of performing arts, Gorakpur University).
I received my master degree in the year 1979. I also have been honored to receive an invitation from the ministry of education, Afghanistan, to pen a book on “An introduction to table”
